Delignit Compressed Wood is a multi-laminated material, produced from selected German beech hardwood (Fagus silvatica) veneers, bonded with water-resistant phenolic resins. It offers both high mechanical strength and good elasticity combined with an excellent capability for impregnation. Impregnated with transformer oil, Delignit Compressed Wood has very high electrical resistance. It has, therefore, been used by the transformer industry for many years.
Several grades of Delignit Compressed Wood are available for a variety of transformer parts. The following grades are cross-laminated (plywood construction), i.e. the veneers are laid up at alternating 90 degree angles. Aiming for maximum tensile strength, a Delignit grade with most veneers running parallel to each other, is also available on request.
